This detour that #WSDOT had yesterday (still can't find anything posted about it online) was quite a tour! #Seattle #Washington #WashingtonState

Came up with a solution to the helmet problem. #motorcycle

A8: My bicycle tour across 500 miles of the ACA Northern Tier route (photos!) back in 2015. #BikeNite

Now that I've figured out my #BikeFit, I should do another tour like that in 2024! (Shame about all of the Summer wildfires here.)

Thanks for the replies, everyone. I wish 50mm would be short enough, but I'm pretty sure I'd need something even shorter.

Ended up going with this little oddity from Crust Bikes, which was made by Nitto. My only worry is that its maximum vertical extension is a little less than my current setup, but maybe the reduced reach will make up for that. #cycling #bicycle #mastobikes #biketooter

I wonder why #Tesla is so obsessed with making everything sedan-shaped. Their crossovers look just like slightly lifted sedans to the average person, and their "Cyber truck" looks like an angular Ford Ranchero. (Photo source)

Went on a little spin over Snoqualmie Pass, through Yakima Canyon, and back over Chinook Pass on the way to SoSo Cycles in "Tacoma" (really Fife). Riding my #Triumph Bonneville with the aftermarket scrambler bars really hammered home how awkward the bars were, so I wanted to talk to someone familiar with cafe racers and so on. Mark at the shop gave me some great suggestions and sent me on my way. (Album) #motorcycle #photography #photog #photo #photos #mywork

I was worried that Chinook Pass might be closed, and the lack of traffic heading east as I headed west didn't help. Thankfully, it ended up being open and not too busy.

Got a couple of #motorcycle handlebar options on the way for making my #Triumph Bonneville's seating position more sporty. I stopped by a European motorcycle dealer yesterday and they recommended trying a drag handlebar after seeing the scrambler bars on the bike now.

Maybe I should get a compact pickup #truck as my first stick shift #car. It'd be very useful for cargo carrying (motorcycle, bicycle, etc. stuff), and passenger capacity wouldn't matter since it we already have a car for that.

I also originally learned to drive in a compact pickup back in the day.

I used to think my #Triumph Bonneville T120 was slow, but recent rides like yesterday's to #Lake #Chelan taught me that all I had to do to make it fast was use more of the engine's rev range and engage my core when cornering. It's so much fun now! (8 photos here. More from yesterday's ride to come.) #motorcycle #photography #photog #photos #Washington #WashingtonState

These are my dream bikes. I wonder if I'll ever end up riding one. #motorcycle (1, 2)

A7. I personally haven't, but I've gone riding with someone who did have their dog along.

The #Honda VFR 800 looks cool, but since I already have my Ninja 1000SX that is comfy and produces more torque and power, it really doesn't make sense to think about it. #motorcycle

A1: Posting from #Seattle. It's been raining a lot this week and I've had to take my bike to the shop due to a broken spoke, so today's been my only real ride. It's always refreshing to get on the bike after a while!

#BikeNite

Also, I just discovered a broken spoken on my other bike's rear wheel that was just handbuilt at the shop a few months back (and also trued after a couple weeks of riding back then to be safe). :'(

A2: I have a number of options:

  • Neoprene shoe covers to prevent my feet from getting cold, either due to a lot of deep puddles or cold weather. Over the years, I've learned that keeping warm is more important than keeping dry.
  • I usually wear a long-sleeve Merino wool jersey or sweater to keep warm if it's cooler out, or if there's a light mist that would soak my base layers.
  • Lobster claw gloves work really well when its cold enough for "normal" Winter gloves to not be enough.
  • For more rain, I'll wear a Showers Pass water resistant jacket. Since I sweat a lot, I really prefer to have the jersey or sweater mentioned above between it and my base layer, otherwise my base layer will be soaked with sweat. I'll sometimes zip it in such a way to make it more of a cloak than a jacket if it's warmer or less wet.
  • Knee warmers help if it gets below freezing.
  • In extreme cases, I'll wear a balaclava, but considering road icing (black or otherwise) and snow (it's hilly here!), I'd rather avoid riding in those cases to begin with.

A3: I usually hit coffee shops on my long rides out of necessity, but I've never had a bad experience. Cold weather pushes me to sit-down places, while I'll often stop at espresso stands and sit somewhere nearby to rest while drinking coffee.

I still have fond memories of this stop on a #BikeSTP many years ago. #BikeNite

Some photos from when @clover and I went to the Washington State (Puyallup) Fair. #photography #photog #photo #photos #mywork (Album)

It's an edit that's been around for a while of a photo of a real truck.

It's very important that all shitposts be checked for accuracy. :P
