Welcome to #BikeNite (similar to #BikeSchool). Thank you for following along, and I hope we all enjoy chatting about bikey stuff! Feel free to answer whenever at your convenience. Anyone can join, now or later.
We'll start out with our usual introduction.

Q1. Where are you posting from today? Tell us about your week.

A1. From "Platinum Bike-Friendly" Davis, California, home of the inaccessible cycle racks!

Really enjoying the cooler weather. I'm able to take rides later in the day if I need to, whereas when it's hot I can only cycle in the morning. #BikeNite

the Lehigh Valley of Pennsylvania where autumn has rightfully arrived, surprisingly. Today I modified a normal loop to try to stay off roads more and add distance, which kinda worked but there were some downsides qhich included me and a stranger podering about this raptor.

Final assessment was everything seems ok from observation probably a fledgling recently leaving their nest. But we were not birders.

You're right, it isn't. Which is why the person who flagged me down was very confused by it and we spent a long time observing the bird before moving on.

It also added like 45 min to my bike ride but who cares, this was an amazing experience.

A1: Joining #BikeNite from Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. It was a pretty lousy week overall, but the high point was definitely the arrival of my new #Brompton front carrier block bag by Eerder Metaal!

#bikenite A1:
Posting from home in #rochmn
I had a leg cramp in my left calf that was painful, but didn't impact my cycling. It affected my ice hockey playing though, I couldn't get off any decent shots, as a right handed shot, the power mostly comes from my left leg. Then I crashed, stepped on a puck at full speed, landed on my left hip and elbow, a little sore this morning.
in reply to Meta-phobic Megan Moved

@glightly Good elbow pads and good breezers with double hip pads saved the day. Stepping on a puck during play is scary, you're expecting your skate blade to dig into the ice but the puck is like the proverbial banana peel, you're going down fast and hard.
in reply to Marty Cormack

@MartyCormack Oh, for sure. I haven't played hockey, but I cannot imagine stepping on a puck on the ice and NOT going flying.

#BikeNite A1: Posting from Zurich, Switzerland. Noticed last week that the new handlebar on my 2015 Brompton (which my mechanic exchanged for being able to mount the wider Velospring grips with suspension) is post-2017 one and now my already bought but not yet mounted OCH-Parts handlebar extender no more fits as it now is too long for the new handlebar. Noticed it when I wanted to mount it to mount my new NiteCore BR35 headlamp in central position. Oh, well.

A1. Nashville, TN. Good biking week! Weather has been pretty great here. Reached 1500 miles on my bike! #BikeNite

#BikeNite A1. Posting from Seattle, WA where the autumn rains have set in... the people who are usually a little confused why I bike everywhere are now ultra-confused.
in reply to panasaurusrex

@panasaurusrex that made me laugh! But I did notice some rain in the PNW and way northern CA and put out some of the fires. So hooray to that!
in reply to Phil (ascentale)

A1. Somerville, MA. I got some good bike swag from the BCU, did bike/ped counts, had interactions that increased my anti car sentiments
in reply to Max 🌆🏳️‍🌈:vbike:⛵️

@max_in_somer I think about the "What radicalized you?" question when I ride sometimes, and my answer is just riding a bike and dealing with all of the stuff that makes it difficult.
in reply to Phil (ascentale)

A1: Posting from #Seattle. It's been raining a lot this week and I've had to take my bike to the shop due to a broken spoke, so today's been my only real ride. It's always refreshing to get on the bike after a while!

#BikeNite

Also, I just discovered a broken spoken on my other bike's rear wheel that was just handbuilt at the shop a few months back (and also trued after a couple weeks of riding back then to be safe). :'(

@tk whoa, what-the - I didn't know Mastodon supported changing the anchor text of a link! I am glad you are able to ride again!
in reply to Phil (ascentale)

A1: College town New England. When I woke up this morning & saw the weather (absolutely pouring), I took a personal day and noped right back to bed. #BikeNite

A1. Posting from Berkeley, CA. I've had better weeks than this one. Had a bad fall, injured my wrist, and will be off bikes for at least two weeks.

in reply to Weldon Bradstreet

@Heyweldon Oh bummer, I am sorry to hear! Hope you have a restful and healing 2 weeks.
in reply to Phil (ascentale)

A1 #BikeNite posting from a Boston suburb (home), week's been top-tier stressful, most of my riding has been to the corner store to procure treats for the stress (Friday-Wednesday was in Florida. I did experimentally ride a recumbent trike while I was there, it was interesting.)
in reply to dr2chase

@dr2chase what are your stress treats? It's usually chocolate for me.
in reply to Phil (ascentale)

Just outside of Boston, MA. I haven’t ridden this week, yet, but I’m hoping to get out Sunday after the rain passes. #bikenite
in reply to Phil (ascentale)

A1: I'm in Somerville, MA. I just did some annual bike/ped counts for my city this week! #BikeNite
in reply to Joan Liu

@inliuofjoan that is important work, and I hope that the data results in some positive changes!
in reply to Phil (ascentale)

I'm not sure how it's used for upcoming projects, but it's cool to see the impacts due to completed projects!
I tried to use data from it on an upcoming project but not sure if I got through

A1: Posting from Kobe, Japan, as I'm travelling with family. It's been insanely hot for September (like over 85F)!
in reply to Phil (ascentale)

Back in what used to be known as "valley of the heart's delight" (that's in California) after work brought me to the other end of the state for a couple of days.

The trip was not very successful, I haven't been on my bike for a week, and next week... I won't be at home then, either.

in reply to Phil (ascentale)

A1. I'm in Oakland CA as usual. The week has been much better than last. Still dealing with some nastiness at my kid's elementary school (this will continue for a while, sadly) but the air has been smoke-free, and my throat and lungs have mostly healed from what I assume is smoke damage last week.
