If I ever end up going full-on "touring dad", I'd probably try to find a #Honda ST1300. #motorcycle

those big GTs looks great and handle relatively well ☺️👍

Just finished a #Kawasaki demo day ride on a ZX-6R. It's definitely not street ergonomics! #motorcycle

There were multiple refrigerators full of Monster energy drinks there. They definitely know their audience!

Love them! My next bike will be a Triumph Scrambler :)

Pretty sure there's a person here in north #Seattle who has an electric conversion of an old #Honda CBR. When I see them go by, all I hear is a nearly silent electrical whirr and the sound of the chain. #motorcycle

Dirtbikes and related #motorcycle riding in the '70s and '80s sound like a real wild time!

My Ninja 1000SX apparently does 0-60 MPH in 3 seconds. >:) #motorcycle

Just got back from a nice little car #camping trip at the Riffe Lake Campground with @clover . We had a great time, but we'll definitely come more prepared next time we go camping. Also, we'll choose accommodations less cramped than the back of our RAV4! (More photos to come later.) #motorcycle

oh man, it’s been a decade or two since I’ve been to Scaleburgers. Glad to see they’re still going.

The #Honda CTX1300's fairing kind of reminds me of what Harley's doing with its big touring bikes these days, though with a somewhat different shape. #motorcycle (1, 2)

Yesterday was definitely a #motorcycle day, and not just for me! :)

I had a great time riding with @clover to Lake Cushman last Saturday, even though we didn't make it all the way to Bear Gulch because my #motorcycle was too squirrelly on the rutted and washboarded gravel with all of us and our stuff on it. On the way home, we stopped in Hoodsport for lunch just as a huge group of Harley riders rolled in to also eat. We even ended up behind a separate group of four riders along SR-106 after. (More photos to come.)

Because of the crazy gusts (irrespective of my speed) in Central Washington, I ended up riding for a long time at speed tucked tight with my elbows beside my knees on my Ninja 1000SX. Does that make me a street squid? 🤔 #motorcycle

A group of sportbike riders were even taking a break at a gas station because the wind was too much for them.

After learning how to ride a #motorcycle with a manual transmission, I lost interest in riding motorscooters because they weren't engaging. (The CVTs are too boring for me.) That's also why my next car will be stick shift.
in reply to Neil E. Hodges

That's tempting, but I don't think they've been available in Australia for some time. Maybe Honda will bring them back soon.

Been feeling really "off" lately. Probably need a good #motorcycle trip away from home this weekend.

Rode my #Honda CRF450RL to my parents' place and back today. It's honestly not too bad on the freeway, but isn't super happy going over 70 MPH. Aside from that, I'm still finding the best technique to put a single foot down at a stop rather that having to have both dangle since I can barely reach. #motorcycle #dualsport

Also, the throttle is a bit touchy, but that's probably what I get for choosing a 450cc thumper that weighs less than 300 pounds. 🤷

"MotoGP" is short for "Motorcycle General Practitioner". #motorcycle.

#Seattle area folks should keep an eye out for this #motorcycle rider. He's a pretty chill guy. (It's not me, but I have chatted with him before.)

Riding a #motorcycle for years and growing older have made me extremely skittish and beyond careful in traffic. While that's a good thing for motorcycle riding, that makes me a very unfun backseat driver for @clover because I am legitimately scared at times. While I don't turn it into fights very often, we do both end up worn out after a while in the car. :(
in reply to Neil E. Hodges

Aside from trying to not be like that anymore when in the car, I think I'm going to start riding a motorcycle when going to places with her while she drives. It'll be more fun for both of us.

in reply to Neil E. Hodges

this was just an idle comment, i'd certainly not get anything without more research

(The joke is that Harleys boom and sportbikes zoom.)

Yes, I am a #Kawasaki fan. How could you tell? #motorcycle

Had a #dream last night where I rode my dual-sport. Guess I should do that next chance I have a free day. #dreams #motorcycle (Original)

Maybe someday I'll get a chance to ride a VFR800. #motorcycle #honda

in reply to Neil E. Hodges

I remember those! However I ended up with a V45 Sabre (1983) as my first street bike, and now I've got a V45 Magna (1984).
in reply to Greg A. Woods

Nice. I was saw a guy riding two-up with a woman on the back on a Sabre while out riding in the boonies. The square headlight and other styling cues looked very strange to me at the time.

The Magna still looks like a cruiser, but the Sabre doesn't really have a modern equivalent. I was taken in by the more electronic dash at the time, complete with an LCD digit for the gear indicator.

I still think it's funny how my dad is a Harley guy, but I ended up in love with sportbikes instead. #motorcycle

Had a pretty good ride yesterday, aside from a couple of drivers. My Ninja was great at handling curves at speed! (More photos to come later.) #motorcycle

Why is the throttle spring on my Ninja so stiff? My hand hurts from holding it all day. #motorcycle
in reply to Neil E. Hodges

If you're spending a lot of time at the same speed, a throttle lock makes a big difference for comfort.
in reply to Neil E. Hodges

A throttle lock might still be helpful.

It should be strong enough to resist the throttle spring, so that you can lock the throttle open and have it stay in-place. Yet, it should be light enough that you can still adjust the throttle without disengaging the throttle lock. This way your hand doesn't have to resist the throttle spring all day.

Otherwise maybe there's a way to lighten the spring?
in reply to Neil E. Hodges

Throttle lock, FTW. At least for open roads -- not necessarily wise to use one on busy streets!
