Livin' in the end times. 😰

Thanks! This place is awesome! :O

After my QRZ-1 showed up today, I replaced the stock rubber ducky antenna with a whip. šŸ‘

Smoking that shit that makes you balanced. #balun #weed

If I'm reading this correctly, I need a little less inductance and a little more resistance at 52 MHz to match the 50Ī© reference impedance, but the latter seems a bit odd. I have this as the topology of my test rig, but maybe 25Ī© is needed between "center" and ground? Not sure. :/

Hello HF bands! šŸ‘‹

Just got a perfect score on my General exam, after the VEs had to watch me fumble and fail to get Zoom to work properly on my Linux desktop. (I got everything but my microphone to work.) They let me have a physical calculator because of the mess…only for none of the questions to involve math. :P

Time for this guy to make a return. :P

Is the difference between capacitive and inductive reactance simply the different phase shift? :3c

Some other Fedi servers do support regexes for filtering.

Well folks, that's that. We were heading home on US 2 and very shortly after the pavement was wet from rain, the front left wheel kept locking up, which caused a temporary loss of control and swerve each time. After the second time, I pulled off the highway and started the process of getting a tow truck through our insurance. I also called the Ford dealer where we picked it up and after getting told that there was no warranty ("as-is"), we talked to my father who brought the implied warranty of merchantability law up. We called back and got someone else who was much more willing to help and we talked about trading it for something else. (If they give us the runaround, we have a plan. šŸ‘ )

It took 3 hours for a tow truck to show up (and that's not even the worse part! :( ) and another 1½ hours to get to the service department for the Ford dealer so we could drop it off. We got home at almost 10 PM after my father drove us, since we didn't have a reasonable way back home so late. x.x

As much as I loved driving the truck, we don't want to deal with gremlins like this in our only car, so there's no way we're going to keep it. I'll just get another stick car some time in the distant future. :'(

Now I understand why Trump is a Taco. :P

Once a satirical conspiracy theory, bird drones could soon be a reality — NPR

Millions of people in the U.S. are bird watchers. But, a couple of years ago a satirical conspiracy theory gained popularity because of an absurd claim: that those birds were also watching people.

Specifically, it suggested that "the U.S. government killed over 12 billion birds in the American skies and replaced them with surveillance drone replicas that watch you and me every day," says Peter McIndoe, the founder of the satirical movement – which is called "Birds Aren't Real."

"I came up with that concept cause I thought that's one of the most outlandish things," McIndoe says. But, there was some level of possibility that there could be bird-shaped drones.

I'm interested in learning #Rust, but haven't found a good use case for it because I don't often write complex application or system code.

I still am amused by how split up the TV broadcast bands are. :P

I wonder what the big boy on the left is. :3c

Saw a cyclecar going down the street while running errands with @clover on foot today. šŸ‘€

Here's my latest #HamRadio antenna experiment, based on this design. Not looking great. :(

Soldered a paper clip for the first time today. :P
