Well folks, that's that. We were heading home on US 2 and very shortly after the pavement was wet from rain, the front left wheel kept locking up, which caused a temporary loss of control and swerve each time. After the second time, I pulled off the highway and started the process of getting a tow truck through our insurance. I also called the Ford dealer where we picked it up and after getting told that there was no warranty ("as-is"), we talked to my father who brought the implied warranty of merchantability law up. We called back and got someone else who was much more willing to help and we talked about trading it for something else. (If they give us the runaround, we have a plan. 👍 )

It took 3 hours for a tow truck to show up (and that's not even the worse part! :( ) and another 1½ hours to get to the service department for the Ford dealer so we could drop it off. We got home at almost 10 PM after my father drove us, since we didn't have a reasonable way back home so late. x.x

As much as I loved driving the truck, we don't want to deal with gremlins like this in our only car, so there's no way we're going to keep it. I'll just get another stick car some time in the distant future. :'(

It's become really hard to find manuals, and converting looks to be basically impossible with modern emissions equipment and engine control systems.

You pretty much have to get an old car, and that comes with its own problems. :(
