Do other #motorcycle riders sort of "chase" other riders paths on freeways/motorways when riding through busy yet not congested car traffic? How many of you do it to intentionally follow them, and how many of you do it just because you like their lines, and how many of you do it because you just happen to choose the same line? 😜

Riding a #motorcycle for years gave a part of my personality that was repressed as a child and teenager a chance to take control and grow. 😭

Does riding a #BMW R #motorcycle feel like piloting a small piston airplane? 🤔
in reply to Neil E. Hodges

The R18 is a thing of beauty. I don't think I'd want to own one, but I love the engine design.
in reply to Dave Heinemann 🇦🇺

@dHeinemann One of the perks of owning a BMW is, when you take it in for a service they give you a loaner for the day. The R18 wasn’t around when I had my BMW, but it would be nice to have for the day to try out.

#Freedom to me is not being inside of a car and not being surrounded by cars. :3c #motorcycle

Shades of rec.motorcycles right there. Be seeing Spagthorpe pictures here soon, presumably...?

I actually like having the horn above the turn signal the way #Honda does it over the other way around like everyone else does it. The horn is quicker to reach in an emergency. #motorcycle 👍

Does it hold up? I'm sure I saw it at the cinema back in the day, and remember it making me cringe - but that was before I got into motorcycling. 🏍️

The 650 class is much better when you find alternatives to parallel twins. :P #motorcycle

Honda Unveils Its New Naked Liter Bike: The CB1000 Hornet Bares All At EICMA 2023

Honda stated in its launch video that the new big-bore Hornet takes some styling cues from the CB750 Hornet, but builds it on the fire-breathing Honda CBR1000RR Fireblade platform. That means that the steel frame of the supersport finds its way onto the liter-class naked bike and also other things like the Honda Pro-Link rear suspension system.

Heard from my local #Honda dealer that they're probably going to bring the Dax to the US soon. 👀 #motorcycle

A #motorcycle is like a guy with a cute little hat (the rider)? 🤔

It's kind of funny how my #dream #motorcycle is something fairly utilitarian, yet mildly upmarket. :P

When I was out riding my CBR650R on Saturday, the left heated grip lost all friction against the bar and started rotating freely whenever any force was applied. I had to hit up a hardware store and duct tape it temporarily to the bar end…which also suspiciously rotated without much effort.

On the latter half of the ride, I called my usual Honda and Kawasaki #motorcycle dealer (which isn't where I bought the bike from) and asked them what to use to glue the grip back on. The lead mechanic picked up the call and told me to use 3M "grip glue" after removing the existing adhesive and roughing the bar up (typical stuff). I didn't have much luck looking for any such dedicated adhesives, so I ordered 3M Spray Adhesive 90.

The adhesive showed up today so I went to do the fix. Guess what I found when I took the grip off? The bar was as clean as a whistle! The shop I bought the bike from didn't even bother to glue it on properly! >:(

At least it's all fixed now.

in reply to Neil E. Hodges

Oh yeah, the casing for the control circuitry of the heated grip was also damaged at some point before I got to this repair work. One of the little plastic clips was broken off so that the casing wouldn't fully close. I just tried the same spray adhesive for now, but will use super glue if it doesn't hold. 🤷

I'm not super enthusiastic about where the button ended up through all this, but it's very easy to reach there. 🤷

When I test rode a used Ninja 1000SX a few years back before getting my own, the kickstand spring was so weak that it deployed while I was riding on the highway and the engine cut out. 😱 #motorcycle

Sitting here sick on the sidelines while @clover does her introductory MSF course. :3 #motorcycle

Clutchless shifting has taught me how to shift with the clutch faster. 🤪 #motorcycle
in reply to Neil E. Hodges

I have recently learned of clutchless shifting and yes, it makes for easier shifting

The Snoqualmie Pass Raceway was fun as always. :3 #motorcycle #Seattle

Left heated grip is completely loose. Since it looks like it's just glued on, I'm guessing the shop I bought the bike from botched it. :( #motorcycle #honda

Even a normal PDF application must have a big annoying AI Assistant button now 🤮

I really like how small-displacement #motorcycle engines feel so much more free-revving than car engines. :3c

My CRF450RL supposedly has a 0-60 MPH time of just under 5 seconds. Not bad for a 450cc single! :P #motorcycle
in reply to Neil E. Hodges

The Suzuki Bandit 1200 did 0-60 in 3 seconds in 1st gear and wasn't even quite at the redline then. One of the reasons I don't have it anymore. Was massively fun destroying Teslas at the lights though.

If anyone’s wondering how to set up communication between a #motorcycle rider with a helmet unit (Cardo, etc.) and someone driving a car, it looks like one common path is getting a pair of portable radio units (“walkie-talkies”) and pairing the helmet unit with the one carried by the rider. 🤷‍♂️

Probably a bit difficult for tall people driving cars with small cabins. :P

Got one of these because my phone's battery is on its last legs. :'( #motorcycle

The #Yamaha MT-10 looks like an evil robot. :P #motorcycle

It's wild that street riding and dirt riding emphasize the opposite brake from the other. 🤪 #motorcycle

in reply to Neil E. Hodges

You know what? I don't even like them on motogp bikes. Wings don't belong on bikes people... Just go back to the old rules.
Looks like crapp...

A #tachometer isn't really necessary on a #motorcycle once the rider becomes familiar enough with the engine. 🤔
in reply to Neil E. Hodges

I have always found them usefull... It is also hard to tell the diffence between 12,500 rpm and 13,500 rpm.

It is not "good form" to rely on the rev-limiter.

in reply to GP-u-Moto

@gpumoto
Anything that runs two-stroke or has more than one cylinder, a tachometer is definitely useful.

But riding something like a DR650SE big ol single cylinder I don't miss the tach' while thumping along. It's very plain where the (nice) torque plateaus, and single cyl torque is forgiving all the way up the gears. That stated, I still wouldn't mind a tach' when riding one.

When the carriage lost its horse—thus becoming the "horseless carriage" car—the horse became the #motorcycle. 😜

OH YESSS! Doubtlesssss!😜

I 've never ridden that bull, but I bet they buck!
