The DJT Parallel: The rhythmic, repetitive fist-pumping at rallies serves a similar purpose. It’s a way of "marking the stage" and the airwaves. By leaning into a gesture that is uniquely his, he stakes a claim on the cultural and political space, ensuring that whenever that motion is seen, people immediately think of his "territory."
2. High-Frequency "Spray"
In the animal kingdom, this behavior is often called "muck-spreading." The tail moves at a high frequency to ensure maximum coverage with minimum effort.
The DJT Parallel: The fist-pumping is designed for the "information spray." It’s a low-energy, high-visibility move that is perfectly calibrated for social media loops, GIFs, and news b-roll. Like the hippo's tail, it’s a mechanical way to ensure his presence "splatters" across every platform simultaneously.
3. Asserting Dominance (The "Wheeze-Honk" Response)
Biologists have found that hippos spray more aggressively when they hear a "wheeze-honk" from a stranger or a rival. It’s a defensive display of strength.
The DJT Parallel: The "pimping" of the fists often intensifies during the walk-off or after a particularly combative point in a speech. It’s a physical manifestation of defiance against "strangers" (critics or political opponents). The more he is challenged, the more the signature move is deployed to signal that he is unfazed and still in control of the "bloat" (the group).
4. Mechanical Efficiency
A hippo’s tail is relatively short and stiff, making the spinning motion the most efficient way to move mass.
The DJT Parallel: As mentioned before, the double-fist move is mechanically simple. It doesn't require the flexibility of a younger dancer or the coordination of a professional. It’s a "brute force" approach to dancing—functional, unmistakable, and impossible to ignore.
The questions leftists ask about AI are: does this improve my life? Does this improve my livelihood? So far, the answer for everyone who doesn’t stand to get rich off AI is no. Thin-sliced: Colbert opened the show by sharing how Fascist CBS (Columbia Bullsh*t System) had notified him that a show segment would be redacted - i.e, canceled, like him. And he was not to even mention it, much less speak about it. So he did. And he promised that the segment, CBS like it or not, would be aired anyway, via Colbert's YouTube channel. And it was. As the comments fly, (like "good going fascist CBS, way to drive up interest and viewership), even the NY Times did a story about the backstory, and here it is, gifted by our old friend, New York Times.

This road gave me a run for my money with its unstable and rough surface in places, tight curves, blind corners, steep hills, and frequent fast descents into hairpins. I had to walk down some hills because I was fearful of wiping out.
Not so much crazy as why exactly would you need to cool a feedline or matching balun? Have you got an extraordinary mismatch? Shouldn't your RF be radiating instead of making heat? And the same comment for running a fan! Fairly extraordinary situation you have there, Neil.
The issue is that the radiation resistance is around 5 ohms, so I need to step the impedance down a ton to get a match. The loading coil between the matching transformer to get this 6m dipole down to the 10m band is what's overheating because of all the resulting current. :(
You're talking about a trap dipole which will require capacitors to fit up the impedances. A fan dipole is easier and will work the first time. Just wind up your excess length on the loading coils.
Well, even 10 gauge wire wasn't enough to prevent the 10m match from overheating when transmitting at 100W. Darn low radiation resistance. Guess it's time to graduate to copper tubing since magnet wire is hard to find in larger gauges. 👀 #AmateurRadio #HamRadio
Pretty sure the mountain of garbage code that #LLMs are spitting out is going to eventually result in a scramble like pre-Y2K to fix bugs and other issues before things truly spiral out of control. :/ #AI
