And so ends my use of cash…

“U.S. dollars will bear the signature of President Trump later this year, the Treasury Department said, an unprecedented change to the nation’s currency that the department said is being made in honor of America’s 250th anniversary.

As a result, Mr. Trump is set to be the first sitting U.S. president to have his signature on the currency.”

I believe they want us to stop using cash, and will try to force us soon.

It will be much easier to control people and their underground economy with no cash.

Temperatures in California, Nevada and Arizona are 22-25 °F above normal. Temperatures are about to reach as much as 108°F. The heat will put some people's health in danger, and it's only the very beginning of spring. If part of July is 22-25 °F above normal, that will kill thousands, or perhaps tens of thousands. This is global heating.

@cy I seriously miss when you barely needed ID and they'd wave most people through if it got too busy at the I 5 border checkpoints, and when the border fully opening Schengen Zone style felt like it could realistically happen any week...

Yeah, and before the "Immigration Act of 1924" there weren't even border police at all. Absolute monsters have been locking down immigration in the USA for 150 years, and people think "surely there must be some reason besides 'I'm rich and I want to enslave the poors'" but there isn't, and never has been. I just don't get why there hasn't been any counter-movement to this until like... 2020? There was some stuff, but nobody calling bullshit on anti-immigration itself.

The titles will be auto generated, I'm sure. I imagine that the title of this game was seen by, at most, one set of eyes before it was pushed. With the way things are going, it might even just be a fully automated shit gamelet factory at this point.

The crime syndicate masquerading as an administration doesn't give a crap about security. My prediction is that this is a shakedown disguised as security theater. Once a router company pledges to build a manufacturing plant in the US, they'll be able to sell here again. Trump-aligned businesses will get millions for site research and planning, and nothing will ever be built. See https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wisconn_Valley_Science_and_Technology_Park

Are there cheap BLDC controllers with regenerative braking integrated? What keywords would one use to find them?

reshared this

in reply to Cassandrich

have you looked on AliExpress? they tend to have a pretty big selection of stuff like that
in reply to Furbland's Very Cool Mastodon™

@GroupNebula563 Yeah that was my thought. Casually searching there seem to be a lot of controllers made for ebikes (my intended application) with this feature but they're made for 36+V systems and I was planning on running motors made for much lower voltage.
in reply to Cassandrich

@GroupNebula563 *much* lower for an ebike? I know the Grin baserunner controller can handle 24V (very much not cheap though), but I'm not aware of anything that goes lower than that. Maybe there are things intended for electric scooters though?
in reply to Wanja

@muvlon @GroupNebula563 My intent is to run a high rpm low voltage drone motor with effectively heavy reduction gearing - engaging tire or rim not hub, so that the whole thing is trivially bolted on a normal bike and removable to carry indoors.
in reply to Cassandrich

@GroupNebula563 I see. Maybe look for RC car ESCs? They run drone-ish RPMs and voltages and they often have motor breaking not even because they need regen but because they get to skip having mechanical brakes. And I think there are some that can put out ebike levels of power (couple hundred watts).
in reply to Cassandrich

this won't work because the forces needed to push whatever against the tire will wear out said tire before you get up the first hill. remember, it has to push itself, the bike, you, and your cargo.

use a chain drive.

in reply to purple 💜

@purple @muvlon @GroupNebula563 You most certainly can do it with a toothed gear on the rim. I've seen it done. I've also heard your critique of just doing rolling engagement on tire, and I don't see any reason the wear would be greater than the wear from tire contact with the road, but I'd just go with the toothed variant if it doesn't work well - it's just a little more annoying because there's *something* permanently attached to the bike.
in reply to Cassandrich

it's double the wear on the tire, and yes if a toothed rim is an option then that will for sure be the best way to go.

i'm also worried about heat from the insane gear reduction needed.

definitely a cool experiment, good luck o/

in reply to purple 💜

@purple @muvlon @GroupNebula563 The heavy reduction comes from the ratio of wheel diameter to driving gear diameter. If any additional reduction is needed it's small.
in reply to Cassandrich

@purple @muvlon @GroupNebula563 SunShine has done a project very similar: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=humqw8ApkSs
in reply to Cassandrich

I think the answer is yes but I don't have any good keywords.

Zelenskyy Says U.S. Is Conditioning Security Guarantees on Surrender of Donbas
New York Times is reporting that according to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, Don Trump “still chooses a strategy of putting more pressure on the Ukrainian side.”
https://archive.ph/tZ3XX

> The U.S. position aligns with a Russian demand that Ukraine hand over a roughly 50-mile-by-40-mile zone in the Donetsk region, part of the larger Donbas, as a condition for ending the war. Ukraine has refused, arguing that ceding the heavily fortified area would give Russia a staging ground for future attacks that would threaten not just Ukraine but also Europe... Simply handing over the land would allow Russia to escape the immense costs it would incur in trying to seize the territory militarily. Ukraine says such a push would take the Russian Army years and inflict hundreds of thousands of losses on it.

The US-Russian invasion of the largest nation in Europe, an ostensible US ally, needs to be unconditionally terminated.
