This new major version of Taskwarrior comes with an important change: the sync functionality has been rewritten entirely, and no longer supports taskserver/taskd. Instead, the recommended solution is a cloud-storage backend, although taskchampion-sync-server is also available. Yah I was able to recover my history, but that process was tedious enough that I haven't really used Taskwarrior since then.

I just downgraded to 2.6.2 because I'm not about to rip out my taskd server.

Honestly a reasonable choice. taskd is kind of a mess, but I'm not sure the new sync is better. Not having a straightforward upgrade / downgrade path for sync after automatically updating to 3.0 was the insult.
