I posted this to the PNW Riders Facebook group and they kept going on about how much of an idiot I was. All of the other roads were clear on the 200 miles I rode that day. This one just happened to be the only slick one I ended up on.

It isn't that Facebook is particularly bad. It's that Facebook is representative of people as a whole since it's the most popular online social network. People are bad.

Even if you were an idiot - they could at least be nice about it. :).I’ve ridden plenty of roads that look like that up here. Lots of pucker factor for sure. It only takes one sketchy spot. Don’t let them raz you too much. (Unless you were hooning it up - then. . .)

Someone from the group sent me a message on Facebook containing a screenshot of my post and the text "Gone but won't ever forget". What are they trying to prove?

Hope nothing too bent out of shape - you or the bike.

Unfortunately looks like there was enough snow to slip but not enough for a soft landing. Speaking from experience there's nothing you can do when the front goes on snow like that other than manage a short swear word.

Hopefully you had great ride up to that point, and wear those scratches with pride as they show your a proper all weather rider, not one of those fair weather only numpties.

Still runs fine. Will likely need new fairings on the side it fell on.

and snow tires!

Were you able to get it righted and get home okay?
in reply to Adam Hunt

Yeah. A local came by and helped me get it up. I wasn't sure what to do because the road was so slick, but he came up with the solution.
in reply to Neil E. Hodges

That was what I was thinking, it would be hard to get upright. What was the solution?

We dragged the bike further to the middle of the road, then lifted up by the handlebars and rear rack. With two people, our shoes had enough grip to get it up.
in reply to Neil E. Hodges

That is a good thing. If that had not worked you may have needed more people or a crane of some sort.

I hope you get the bike all fixed up!
