While I was at a local bike shop, Jan Heine dropped by and had a friendly chat with the mechanic about the future of the #. He said that in 10-15 years, most people will have abandoned the "normal" pedal bicycle in favor of one with electric assist. #

I don't know about that. I think it may have a lot to do with the person's intended use.

Yeah here we are seeing all the overweight types riding e-bikes. They keep bragging about how they are biking everywhere now (ie motoring) while still gaining weight of course. On the plus side it keeps some cars off the road.
