I've seen a lot of posts about Toyota coming out with a new competitor to the Maverick and Santa Cruz, and while I'd be totally happy to stay Toyota, I'm not willing to wait anywhere from 2 to 4 (or even more who knows) years to see what they do. Mainly because I have a trade in I want to get value out of while it's still relatively new and low miles and the used car market is still bonkers.
Trading my 2019 in for almost the exact amount I paid for it now that it's 2023 is fucked up and I have to hop on that lmao
I've pretty much settled on the Santa Cruz instead of the Ridgeline though, unlike the Maverick it's pretty easy to find them for sale (heck even more than the Ridgeline which is wild) and it has some of the features I liked from the Ridgeline (the fold up seats without a big plastic thing in the way, it has one but you can take it out easily, and the in bed trunk). But the killer thing for me was just that it felt barely bigger than my Corolla to drive. It feels smaller than my moms Acura MDX to drive. That's wild for something with a bed in 2023.
the only thing I wish it had was the tailgate that opens like a door but the bed is shorter and it's lower to the ground so it's less of a need than it was with the Ridgeline
