in reply to Neil E. Hodges

As a male suffering from loneliness, I believe this mischaracterizes me and many others like me.

@MogSaysMeow I appreciate the response! I hope this reply doesn't sound like I'm trying to fight; I just want to clarify my viewpoint. My worry is that even if this image isn't *intended* to refer to me, I think it's easy for a reader to get the impression that "people who mention the male loneliness epidemic are disguising their misogyny". The fact is that there is a loneliness epidemic, especially post-quarantine, and statistically it does affect men more than women. 1/2

@MogSaysMeow People who advocate for awareness of and solutions to the loneliness epidemic are already in danger of being labeled as incels (or pickmes) just for mentioning it, and I don't think this image helps that. I also don't think it helps the incels it's targeting, and I don't think it helps the women who are affected by their untreated gynophobia. 2/2

@MogSaysMeow Yeah that is very much the case, and why I prefer to just say "the loneliness epidemic," but I also like to have empathy by default when people use terminology I disagree with. It can be quite hard to navigate the warfields of language without treading on landmines. Anyway, I hope things get better for you and your friend!
