The LTO-9 tape drive I got needs one of these cables and I only have the kind without combined connectors on the drive end. 🫠

Because that's what the drive manufacturer felt like. 🤷

Maybe that makes it work better in hot swap drive bays.

I mean I don't get why the separate power and data cables can't just plug next to each other like they do in most SATA connectors, how is this combined one different?

Maybe that would work if I filed slots in the power and data connectors, but I'm not a fan of jank.

weird, I've never seen combined ones that were slotted differently than the two plugs next to each other.

I did try plugging in "normal" separate cables, but no dice.

The correct cable worked like a charm! 👍

I had some apprehension while it booted because it took a lot longer than usual with the drive installed, but it came up just fine. 😅
