Just make sure your vulcanizing fluid hasn't dried out. :(

I’ve taken to buying batches of the little tubes of rubber cement so I can have an open one, and a sealed one in every patch kit. Use the open one until it dries out, but never be reliant on an old open tube, have a backup. You can get 5 tubes on Amazon for $4
