I've been running 38mm Panaracer GravelKing tires tubeless on my Soma Stanyan for years, but the front tire I just put on has enough wobble to rub in one spot on every rotation. (The wheel itself is true.)

Two shops told me that the tire wasn't seated right, but I checked and remounted multiple times and it's seating fine. Even used some rubbing alcohol to lubricate the tire where it seated, but it always mounts up perfectly fine. The tire is the problem.

The second shop gave the real answer after chatting with the folks there for a bit: I should go down a size. It's a real bummer, but even the Soma website says it can do up to 35mm. :(

The only other realistic alternative is a new frameset, or at least a new fork, but that will have to wait for a while. :(

Only problem is that I now have to find a completely different tire since both the GravelKing and Rene Herse tires don't go any smaller than 650B×38mm. :'(

There's a weird gap between 25mm and 38mm tires in the 650B size. :(

(ignore this, I didn't realize it was tube only, my current tires are both, but not in 650B)

They also have a nifty feature where you can search their site by tire size (something like this might be closer to what you want: 650Bx30 https://www.schwalbetires.com/Schwalbe-G-One-Speed-11600929.01) this one is tubeless

Thanks. I'm probably going to end up with the G-One Allround tires since they come in 35mm.

I have no ability to judge tread (road bike tires all the way here) so wasn't sure what you were going for.

These do have more tread than I was hoping for, but I think they'll be okay. :)

@mastobikes @biketooter Conti GP 5000 is available in 584x32 (not 35) and is tubeless-ready. You may need a second mortgage.

Asking for help here sure feels like shouting into the void most of the time. :(
