Any cyclists made it here yet? I’m a regular on #alps2Ocean and always up for a leg or two. Managed a respectable distance for October so hoping for warmer weather now.

a few that spring to mind are @sam @ajft and @Thalass who I see show up in the #cycling hashtag now and then

thanks Mike. I need to remember that hashtags are more important here. I’m in Otago btw.
in reply to Jason Kemp

Welcome Jason! I should definitely post more cycling stuff. Here's my commuter that I got from the local bike co-op recently!
in reply to Mike [SEC=OFFICIAL]

Oh hai! I'm more of a fietser than a cyclist but I do love my bike 😀
in reply to Thalass

Oh yeah, here's my grandpa bike testing the new (kinda inadequate) bike parking at work yesterday. Super comfortable but not the most efficient geometry. Especially with hills!
in reply to Thalass

classic cruiser! Here's my gravel bike just before a group ride a month or two ago.
in reply to Jason Kemp

, converted my XC bike mid September and managed to do just under 1400km since then, mostly around the Otago Harbour area.
in reply to Joe

Hi Joe - Nice. I haven't done any of the Otago harbour city rides yet but keen to have a look. Where should I start?
in reply to Jason Kemp

, the Eastside of the harbour following the peninsula has a 18km cycle way finished up to Portobello and from there are small bits finished for the next 20km all the way out to Taiaroa Head and the Albatross Center. If you're really keen you can add another km and go uphill on a steep gravel road to the Wilderness cafe, great views there. And that's turnaround point.
in reply to Joe

Thanks Joe. I've been to that cafe and the Albatross centre before if that is the same place. I remember the hill.

, another nice ride is to follow the coast South on the scenic route via Brighton (~20km ) to Taieri Mouth (35km).
In Brighton you can climb up to Saddle Hill road and come back to Dunedin that way.
At Taeri Mouth you can cross over into the Taeri Plane cross the state highway 1 and come back on the western side of the Taeri and past the airport over 3 mile hill into Dunedin.
I'd check wind directions, both northerly and southerly can be bad, so go early then home with the wind.

, there are also numerous cross country and downhill tracks in and close to town.
