Back when I learned how to drive, pretty much all "normal" cars with automatic transmissions had column shifters. More recent cars have had floor shifters, and now some even have little buttons or dials instead of levers! :P
@enobacon I really like R/1 being opposite each other: it makes rocking the car out in mud or snow so much easier. Alas, none of my current cars have this shift pattern.
