I'm planning to have a small transceiver hooked more or less directly up to an antenna, with a Raspberry PI also involved, to have a full packet radio TNC setup outdoors. Any suggestions for a good transceiver for this use case? :3 #AmatuerRadio #HamRadio #PacketRadio

What's a good kit radio to build for 2m? :3 #AmateurRadio #HamRadio

I wonder if an SDR would be appropriate here, but I still don't know which one to get. :P

2m packet radio? Is that still a thing? Should be 1200bd there... Why not get a cheap handy transceiver? It's just packet radio...

I don't have any advice for you, but I did want to inform you that these posts sent me down a rabbit hole 😆

parts are in the mail

For 1k2 anything will work. I haven't done PR in ages and only 1k2, but a lot of mobile devices should be 9k6-capable now. For that there must be lists online.

I started packet back in the day with a Yaesu FT-208R 2m “handheld” and AEA PK88. I later switched to ex-PMR 70cm, with crystals on local freq. Currently rebuilding packet station using Tait 8100 as mentioned on https://wiki.oarc.uk/packet:transceivers and considering a possible Baofeng UV-5R Mini for portable. They’re a bit poor, but v cheap. Planning/building OpenTNCs for both stations. I’ll need a 40m TXVR for longer distance HF/NVIS links to rest of UK network. QRP Labs QDX?
