Keeping the A/C temperature high at home to save energy is kind of pointless if you end up having to take more showers (which consume both water and energy) to not be stinky and miserable. :/

Modern parenting is so stressful that the U.S issued a health advisory. Parents say it's overdue

Studies have linked comparing your own parenting to what you see on social networking sites with higher rates of maternal depression, higher cortisol levels and increased envy and anxiety in mothers specifically.

But it's hard not to compare, said Meenakshi Sharma-Vadnais, 35, of Ottawa.

Sharma-Vadnais, a mom of three, says this generation of parents is overloaded by online information. She jokes that as an influencer and parenting blogger, she's part of the problem.

Zipping by I-5 traffic backups on the light rail to Lynnwood. >:3 #Seattle

I wish there were street markets or permanent retail / food stalls every day. The space below Mount Baker Station is so desolate and empty.

If this weren't the US, we'd definitely have more stuff at stations.

With more than one item, the context managers are processed as if multiple with statements were nested:
with A() as a, B() as b:
    SUITE

is semantically equivalent to:

with A() as a:
    with B() as b:
        SUITE

You can also write multi-item context managers in multiple lines if the items are surrounded by parentheses. For example:

with (
    A() as a,
    B() as b,
):
    SUITE

So many aid, medical, and overdose fire response calls today. :( #Seattle

In project management, a death march is a project which participants believe to be destined for failure, or that requires a stretch of unsustainable overwork. The project "marches to its death" as its members are forced by their superiors to continue the project, against their better judgment. The term originated in the field of software development, and has since spread to other fields.

Death marches are usually a result of unrealistic or overly optimistic expectations in scheduling or feature scope, and often result from a lack of appropriate documentation, relevant training, or outside expertise needed to complete the project. Death marches can also be triggered by misunderstandings between parties, unresolved assumptions, mismatched expectations, and sometimes external change. Management may desperately attempt to right the course of the project by asking team members to work especially grueling hours (14-hour days or 7-day weeks) or by attempting to "throw (enough) bodies at the problem", often causing burnout.

The discomfort is heightened by project participants' knowledge that the failure is avoidable. It may have succeeded with competent management, such as by devoting the obviously required resources, including bringing all relevant expertise, technology, or applied science to the task, rather than just whatever incomplete knowledge a few employees happened to possess. Business culture pressures may play a role in addition to mere incompetence.

The term "death march" is discussed at length in Edward Yourdon's book Death March. Yourdon's definition: "Quite simply, a death march project is one whose 'project parameters' exceed the norm by at least 50 percent."

Pretty sure the kei truck bans mainly exist to prevent Americans from buying trucks other than the giant ones that are the only domestic options. :/

#Eeyupp!" basically the whole "#ChickenTax" #retaliation bs.

Also #Lobbyism without restraint because in the 1920-1950s, #BigCar was allowed to buy up #PublicTransport networks solely for the purpose of #destroying & #dismantlibg said #PublicInfrastructure which was viable against #cars...

"Elephant Super Car Wash Sign"

Stopped by the Elephant Super Car Wash to see a construction crew tearing it down. Right before I left, the remaining structure collapsed.

I do lament the passing of landmarks, but hopefully this is a sign of things to come.

Have a nasty cold, possibly COVID. Been stuck with it since last week. :(

Jalapeno poppers don't appeal to me purely because they typically use cream cheese, which I get the gag reflex from unless it's something like a thin layer in a bagel or in frosting. (I don't particularly like cream cheese frosting, but it doesn't give me the gag reflex.)

That said, poppers made with mozzarella do sound good. :3

Feels like people find getting overstimulated from #music at 'normal' volume levels really strange. I can't even listen to music or videos I like for too long before I need a break. :(
