"Analysis of 800,000 European cars found real-world pollution from plug-in hybrids nearly five times greater than lab tests"

Most of the plug in hybrids I have looked into have a battery only range of less than 50 miles.
They exist as a virtue signalling thing rather than as a solution to a problem.
( as my neighbor with his 1968 GTO drives by spewing unburnt fuel stench )

Buried within a few links, I found the delightful dataset and I was able to sort by brand. Not surprisingly, my Toyota showed the top score as its EV motor is the largest compared to the attached internal combustion engine, making it effectively useful.

Yeah, @Mark Wollschlager I was looking at possibly getting a hybrid when I started shopping a couple of years ago....til I found out the electric range was like 7 miles or some stupid thing....and the complexity of dual drive trains etc... WHAT A WASTE!

A 2025 report from Transport & Environment (T&E) found that plug-in hybrids (PHEVs) produce significantly more pollution on the road than official lab tests suggest. The study was based on 800,000 PHEVs in Europe between 2021 and 2023.

CO2 road emissions from PHEVs proved to be nearly five times higher than as recorded in lab tests and the discrepancy is growing. Even when operating in electric mode, a PHEV's gas engine kicks in approximately one-third of the time resulting in greater gasoline usage, CO2 emissions and driving on battery power alone.
