The only mention I have seen of this on the media here mentioned a protest against the war. It was glossed over in seconds. One wonders if there is a whiff of right wing corruption and bullshit in the "independent" news outlets...

I see three comments @Simon J Ashcroft.

Are you trying to get across to your news outlets? Ours aren’t so “independent” either.

Ha! For some reason, Glasswings was not responding. I shut down the window for 10 minutes or so - then come back to find I've posted in triplicate...

Yes, it buffers every click locally while seemingly incommunicado. Then the floodgates burst.

Quite entertaining in its own way. @Brian Fitzgerald

The BBC is supposed to be independent, @Katherine Bond. Sometimes it seems to bend over backwards to seem evenhanded Other times, it seems to downplay what is clearly newsworthy.

I was very disappointed in one of our Australian TV channels who reported that "thousands protested in the USA".
in reply to Katherine Bond

It’s happened to me @Simon J Ashcroft. Sort of funny.

I trust BBC more than our corporate owned network news channels like CBS.
There’s more reliable news on YouTube.

Try over 8 million @Andrew Pam. Have your tv networks been bought out too?
in reply to Katherine Bond

Sort of funny to see the extra comments. 😆
in reply to Katherine Bond

It's complicated. This particular (non-commercial) network was deeply loathed by the conservatives, so last time they were in government they not only cut funding to the bone but also appointed their own people to the board. That seems to have affected them quite badly.
in reply to Katherine Bond

These kinds of machinations sound all too familiar here.
in reply to Katherine Bond

I left the extra comments so comments on the comments would make enough sense not to cause comment.

If you see what I mean...

PBS mentioned it for 30 or so seconds. That's all I've seen on mainstream/legacy/useless media. I get my news from independent journalists so that I get a better picture of the world.
