Why? Regan really started cutting social services, and the trend continued. You miss all the good stuff by starting with Obama. Clinton, too was very destructive, but Regan got the snowball started down the hill.

When Obama was elected in 2009, the Democrats had control of all of Congress - and the Presidency. And you know what they did? They derailed Single Payer and substituted the atrocious ACA.

The American people have been trying to get proper healthcare since the 1930s. Big companies have successfully prevented it since the 1930s.

There were (and are) several major problems with the ACA - the one I have in mind right now is that it took the place of single payer. Once the ACA passed, the Democrats lost all interest in something much better.
