Does anybody else get these kinds of error messages from archive dot today?

First I get the one at the top... if I click "try again" right away, it usually goes through... but eventually degenerates into the second message or some other hard block. Adding to the weirdness, the URL for the alleged certificate holder changes daily or more, and it's almost always some oddball domain in some off-the-beaten-path country.

I'm supposedly using a good non-ISP DNS... not sure what else it could be... the site itself limiting contacts from a single IP? I don't use it that much!

Neil E. Hodges reshared this.

I use DNS through my VPN, which helps avoid those attacks, unless the VPN ever gets compromised

I think I saw that also already some days ago. my solution was to delete the chronic (I'm a zero-checker)

I've never seen that issue. I mostly use the FF extension though, as I only look for paywall/sign-in blocked stories. I just tried archive.today from my Firewall and got no error. That looks like a redirector of some sort trying to track you. I do have both uBlock Origin and Privacy Badger extensions active, so that may be why I don't see anything like that.

In FF settings, under Privacy and Security: Enhanced Tracking Protection, I have selected Standard rather than Strict or Custom. I hope this is of some help.

I'm also running ublock on firefox. I'm starting to think it has something to do with the bookmarklet, but then I run into this problem if I just try to visit the site and search for an existing copy as well.

and no I'm not running a VPN... too much stuff just plain won't work when I try to use one

If I'm using my emploer's WiFi, this is what happens. They censor sites and this is how they snoop. If the state is Taliban, same thing...

That's why I VPN out of this county where the laws are for the people.
