Guess I need to switch to DisplayPort for that monitor. :P

Anyone know why there are fighter jets zooming over #Seattle today?

It was kind of cool how he was able to just hop on his bicycle and continue after the (former) road became too gnarly for his modern pickup truck.

Kind of makes me want to get a Honda Trail 125 for similar emergencies. :3

Hurricane Helene Aftermath—Getting Emergency Supplies By Air and Road

Hurricane Helene is over, and now it's time to help. Here's what my week looked like living in the path of destruction and helping coordinate supplies.

Getting #YouTube ads for rich people things like investment, cosmetics, and so on while watching a video about the #Helene disaster recovery in and around #Asheville is a juxtaposition that really puts things into perspective. :/
in reply to Neil E. Hodges

And the fact that #Helene was made as bad as it was because of rich people (and their creations like cars, etc., that the public uses) polluting the planet just makes me mad. >:(

I like 1×, I like 2×, and I like 3×. I also like single-speed, fixed-gear, internally geared hubs, and bottom bracket gearboxes. They all have their advantages and disadvantages. :3

I also like rim brakes, disc brakes, and drum brakes. I've used all of them and they all have their quirks. :3

I'm mostly over 3x (and my diy 4x) but nothing I've ridden in 1x gives me enough range for either road or mountain bikes. I would sure like a Pinion gearbox matched to a 10 speed cassette, though. Then I'd be satisfied.

I have three vaccines in my system from yesterday, and I'm still recovering from a cold I had all week.

May God have mercy on my soul. 😨

While my first non-scooter #motorcycle was a used #KTM 690 Duke, I probably would never buy a KTM bike again.

Maybe if I did more of my own maintenance, I'd be singing a different tune.

in reply to Neil E. Hodges

Was it maintenance-heavy? Or did you encounter mechanical issues?
in reply to Dave Heinemann 🇦🇺

It was a bit too rough, rowdy, and kind of clunky. Made learning how to ride less fun. :/

Based on my interpretation of the video, it pretty much boils down to modern-day life being too complicated.

Wish we didn't make it that way. :/

Why you’re so tired — Johnny Harris

In today's fast-paced world, experiencing burnout and constant exhaustion can make daily functioning feel nearly impossible. So I set out to answer two crucial questions: why are we so tired? and what can we do about it?

Not a fan of the shoddy product quality inherent to #capitalism's race to the bottom. :/
in reply to Neil E. Hodges

It makes me not want to buy "stuff" at all, which I don't think is what The Wealthy want. :P

The RTD in Denver is going all-in when it comes to commuter rail electrification. :O
in reply to Neil E. Hodges

Huh, I didn't know any of our commuter rail was anything other than electric.

I've learned that spending money on experiences rather than physical goods is pretty much always more rewarding, and not accumulating tons of junk (and packaging to throw out) over time is a definite plus.

That said, buying physical goods for the purpose of having those experiences is also something to keep in mind. :3

in reply to Neil E. Hodges

That train of thought is on a dangerous trajectory to a new bike...

I know I'm starting to come down with something when I start being overwhelmed easily, which isn't characteristic of me, and I know I'm mostly over it when I get a burst of energy out of nowhere. (I do take it easy during that burst, because I've learned that if I start pushing my body too early, I'll end up sick again. 😢👍)

. @clover and I went to our local #Honda and #Kawasaki dealer so she could check out the '24 CBR650R, and the one they had on the floor had the new #eClutch. The older salesperson said he rode a '24 CB650R (one that sold before it arrived at the shop) and really liked it. He even said it was so much better than Honda's #DCT! #motorcycle

I have my ad blocker disabled on #YouTube, but videos still keep getting stuck after 20 seconds.

What a shitty website. >:(

To be clear, I've had my ad blocker disabled there for over a year now.
