"Abandoned Industry"

For the longest time, this was some sort of abandoned industrial complex. The buildings have since been torn down to make room for a new business park going up soon.

"Whitehorse Trail"

The Whitehorse Trail was very overgrown along most of its length, with long stretches where no trail surface was visible at all through the grass. It was pretty bumpy with loose gravel in places, so a cyclocross bike would do much better than a road bike.

"Interurban Trail Closure"

The city is doing some work on South 228th Street, so the trail is closed around it. I didn't know about this since I used Frager Road/Green River Trail to head south. The detour took me on busy SR-181 most of the way to South 212th Street, but thankfully traffic was pretty light.

"Beyond the Horizon: Front Loading"

I experimented with a different load configuration this time, with almost all of the gear up front.

It handled very well, and climbing out of the saddle was easy. The 'center of gravity shift' that freaks me out about steep grades (which can easily result in wheelies) was significantly reduced with this loading.

The bike tended to oversteer a little, but that's easier than trying to wrestle a bike whose tail is being swung back and forth by a heavy rear load.
