I think part of the problem - or the heart of the problem was that the '60s movements were nebulous and disjointed, while the reactionary forces were focused, directed, and funded.

And yet it took the wealthy ~30 years to undo what was built in that era (oligarch revolution in the 90s) and then another ~20 years to weaken us to the point that Russia could install a puppet government and bring about a fascist revolution.

It's going to take a lot more gardening than that. We need to move an entire culture now to counter the damage that has been done.
