I miss landlines, corded phones, and cordless phones.

I miss the nostalgia of simpler times of staying on the phone until one of us falls asleep, but wouldn’t give up the power of staying connected to people now

I am sitting next to a beige "princess slimline" phone that the previous own left behind 36 years ago.

My time in IT taught me, you must have a backup that is in no way related to your primary. Landlines are fairly inexpensive, and a standard corded landline phone will work in a power failure.

Me too! I was able to relive some of their glory thanks to a home PBX I set up and bridged to Google Voice.

BTW, every cordless phone I have ever purchased has last about a year. No more that two, and I didn't buy cheap ones.
